Tootsie Roll Fudge – creamy chocolate and peanut butter fudge that tastes just like a tootsie roll!

Tootsie Roll Fudge.

If you love tootsie rolls like me then this fudge is for you! This recipe is great for using up those leftover Halloween tootsies or just for a quick and easy treat! The dollar store is a great place to find a big bag of tootsie rolls for cheap!

I found this recipe on the Taste of Home website, but after reading the reviews and as I was making it, I decided to make some tweaks.

First of all I increased the peanut butter. I wanted this fudge to have a good peanut buttery chocolate flavour as well as some added creaminess. Secondly, I reduced the amount of powdered sugar. As I was adding the powdered sugar, the fudge quickly become very thick. Once I had added 3 cups it seemed thick enough to me and I didn’t want it to become too crumbly. Thirdly, I used heavy cream instead of milk and added an extra tablespoon. Again, I thought this would give it a creamier texture and taste. Lastly, I drizzled some chocolate over top and added sprinkles! Way more fun in my opinion!

How to make Tootsie Roll Fudge

Line an 8×8 square pan with parchment paper.

In a saucepan, over medium heat, melt the tootsie rolls, peanut butter and butter, stirring continuously. This will take a few minutes.

Add the vanilla and stir to combine.

Next, add the powdered sugar 1/2 cup at a time alternating with the heavy cream. Stir until fully combined in between each addition. The mixture will start to get very thick, just keep stirring and make sure to get the powdered sugar fully mixed in.

Once all is combined, pour the mixture into the lined pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Let chill in the fridge for about an hour.

Once the fudge is chilled and set, melt the chocolate in a microwave safe dish or measuring glass. Microwave in 15 second increments and stir in between to avoid seizing. Drizzle it over the fudge and top however you like. I topped mine with sprinkles but you could use chopped nuts as well!
